When you upgrade or downgrade a service mid-billing cycle, prorated billing ensures you only pay for what you actually use.
How Proration Works
Instead of charging the full price for the new plan from the start of the next cycle, we calculate the difference based on the remaining days in your current billing period.
Upgrade Example
If you're on a Basic plan ($10/month) and upgrade to a Pro plan ($20/month) halfway through the month:
- You've already paid $10 for the full month on the Basic plan.
- For the remaining 15 days, you owe the difference: ($20 - $10) ÷ 30 days × 15 days = $5.00.
- A prorated invoice for $5.00 is generated immediately.
- Your next full invoice will be $20.00 for the Pro plan.
Downgrade Example
Downgrades typically take effect at the end of the current billing cycle. You'll continue to have access to the higher-tier features until your current period ends, and the lower rate applies on the next renewal.
Tip: To avoid proration confusion, consider upgrading at the beginning of your billing cycle. You can check your next renewal date under Services > My Services.
Note: Prorated credits from downgrades are applied as account credit rather than refunded to your payment method.
