An EPP code (also called an authorization code, auth code, or transfer key) is a unique password assigned to your domain. It is required to transfer a domain between registrars.
What Is an EPP Code?
- A randomly generated alphanumeric string (e.g.,
aB3$xK9!mP) - Unique to each domain name
- Required by the gaining registrar to authorize a transfer
- Acts as proof that you are the domain's legitimate owner
How to Get Your EPP Code
- Log in to the client portal and go to Domains > My Domains.
- Click Manage next to the domain.
- Look for Get EPP Code or Authorization Code.
- Click the button — the code will be emailed to the registrant's email address on file.
Security: Treat your EPP code like a password. Never share it publicly or with anyone who doesn't need it. The code is typically valid until used or until a new one is generated.
Note: Some domain extensions deliver the EPP code instantly on screen, while others email it. If you don't receive it within a few minutes, check your spam folder or contact support.
If you're transferring a domain to GigaGlobe, you'll need to obtain the EPP code from your current registrar.
