Managing Domain Name Servers

Nameservers tell the internet where to find your website and email. Changing nameservers is one of the most common domain management tasks.

Changing Nameservers

  1. Log in to the client portal and go to Domains > My Domains.
  2. Click Manage next to the relevant domain.
  3. Select the Nameservers tab.
  4. Choose Use custom nameservers.
  5. Enter the nameserver addresses provided by your hosting provider. For GigaGlobe hosting, use:
    ns1.gigaglobe.com
    ns2.gigaglobe.com
  6. Click Change Nameservers.

When to Change Nameservers

  • When you purchase new hosting and need to point your domain to the server.
  • When switching to a CDN or DNS provider like Cloudflare.
  • When migrating to a different hosting provider.
Important: DNS propagation takes 1-48 hours after changing nameservers. During this time, some users may see the old site while others see the new one. Avoid making other DNS changes during propagation.
Tip: Always have at least two nameservers configured for redundancy. If one nameserver is down, the other will continue resolving your domain.
