Nameservers tell the internet where to find your website and email. Changing nameservers is one of the most common domain management tasks.
Changing Nameservers
- Log in to the client portal and go to Domains > My Domains.
- Click Manage next to the relevant domain.
- Select the Nameservers tab.
- Choose Use custom nameservers.
- Enter the nameserver addresses provided by your hosting provider. For GigaGlobe hosting, use:
ns1.gigaglobe.com ns2.gigaglobe.com - Click Change Nameservers.
When to Change Nameservers
- When you purchase new hosting and need to point your domain to the server.
- When switching to a CDN or DNS provider like Cloudflare.
- When migrating to a different hosting provider.
Important: DNS propagation takes 1-48 hours after changing nameservers. During this time, some users may see the old site while others see the new one. Avoid making other DNS changes during propagation.
Tip: Always have at least two nameservers configured for redundancy. If one nameserver is down, the other will continue resolving your domain.
