Configuring Domain Forwarding

0 Was this answer helpful?

Domain forwarding (URL redirect) lets you automatically send visitors from one domain to another. This is useful if you own multiple domains or want a short URL to redirect to a longer page.

Setting Up Forwarding

  1. Log in to the client portal and go to Domains > My Domains.
  2. Click Manage next to the domain you want to forward.
  3. Select the Forwarding or URL Redirect tab.
  4. Enter the destination URL (e.g., https://www.example.com/landing-page).
  5. Choose the redirect type.
  6. Click Save.

Redirect Types

  • 301 (Permanent) — Tells search engines the domain has permanently moved. SEO value transfers to the new URL. Use this for most cases.
  • 302 (Temporary) — Indicates a temporary redirect. The original URL retains its SEO value. Use this for promotions or short-term campaigns.

URL Masking (Cloaking)

URL masking shows the destination content while keeping your domain in the browser's address bar. This uses an HTML frame, so it may cause issues with some websites and is generally not recommended for SEO.

Note: Domain forwarding requires the domain's DNS to be managed through GigaGlobe. If you're using external nameservers, configure the redirect at your DNS provider instead.
