DNS records control how your domain name resolves to servers, email services, and other online resources.
Common DNS Record Types
- A Record — Points your domain to an IPv4 address (e.g., 192.168.1.1)
- AAAA Record — Points your domain to an IPv6 address
- CNAME Record — Creates an alias pointing to another domain name
- MX Record — Directs email to mail servers (with priority numbers)
- TXT Record — Stores text data, commonly used for SPF, DKIM, and domain verification
- NS Record — Specifies the nameservers for your domain
Editing DNS Records
- Log in to DirectAdmin.
- Navigate to Account Manager > DNS Management.
- Select the record type you want to add or modify.
- Enter the record details and click Save.
Important: DNS changes can take 1-48 hours to propagate worldwide. During this time, some visitors may see old records while others see the new ones.
