Configuring Email on Android Devices
You can add your DirectAdmin email account to the Gmail app or the default Mail/Email app on your Android device. This guide covers the setup process using the Gmail app, which is the most common email client on Android.
Gmail App Setup
- Open the Gmail app on your Android device.
- Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner.
- Tap Settings, then tap Add account.
- Select Other from the list of email providers.
- Enter your full email address (e.g.,
user@yourdomain.com) and tap Next. - Select Personal (IMAP) as the account type.
- Enter your email account password and tap Next.
- For Incoming server settings:
- Server:
mail.yourdomain.com - Port:
993 - Security type: SSL/TLS
- Server:
- Tap Next.
- For Outgoing server settings:
- SMTP Server:
mail.yourdomain.com - Port:
587 - Security type: STARTTLS
- Require sign-in: Enabled
- Username: Your full email address
- Password: Your email account password
- SMTP Server:
- Tap Next.
- Configure your sync frequency and notification preferences.
- Enter a display name for outgoing messages and tap Next to complete the setup.
The Gmail app may attempt to auto-detect settings. If auto-detection fails, you will be prompted to enter the settings manually as described above.
Samsung Email App
If you are using a Samsung device with the built-in Email app:
- Open the Email app.
- Tap Other or Manual Setup.
- Enter your email address and password.
- Select IMAP Account.
- Enter the same incoming and outgoing server settings listed above.
- Tap Sign In to complete the configuration.
If you experience connection issues, verify that your email password is correct by logging into webmail first. Also ensure that your device has a stable internet connection during the setup process.
